Well, I get it… the common question you are asking, why should I blog? Here are the 3 reasons why you need to blog.
I thought this was the perfect first blog post…
You are not the only person asking this question…I get this constantly from 100’s of advisors across the country.
So here are the 3 reasons you need to start a blog!
Reason 1: Sales Funnel
If you are in sales then you have seen the below funnel graph.
When you are working with a prospect and you are going through this funnel one of the most important steps is EDUCATE.
This is a step your business can not afford to miss!
You need to EDUCATE your client and what better way than a Blog. Simply posting once to twice a month answering questions you get on a daily basis.
The thing is before you ask a prospect to get married (that is what you are doing) you need to go on a few dates first.
You need, NEED to provide value before you ask for something in return. If you’re not already doing that already…that could be why your closing ratio is poor.
Once someone is aware of your company’s existence and they know what you do…the questions going through their head are…
Can I trust him with my money
The first two can be knocked out by educating your client through a blog.
Number 2: Tribe
If you set up a blog correctly you will begin to acquire a tribe…
I get it…
What’s a tribe? I have explained that in this blog (Click here) or an image below but in a nutshell it a group of persons having a common character, occupation, or interest that you can consistently reach out to.
These people trust you and see you as the expert in finance. Building a tribe gives you the ability to start free marketing.
Free Marketing… I know what your thinking
Sounds too good to be true!
Well let’s just say you start blogging and about 3-4 months go by and you have acquired about 5,000-10,000 email subscribers (If done right should be on the small side)
well, know you want to throw a seminar or workshop.
Could you imagine instead of sending out 5,000-10,000 mailers you could just email blast your subscribers and invite them to a one-time event to meet you in person?
Well, Email is Free…Plus you still have emails so you can continue to drip on the prospects that did not show up.
Not hating on Mailers but can you do that through a mailer?
That’s the power of a tribe!

3rd Reason: Home Base
If you ever want to start a virtue practice you need a home base to direct clients to…I know what the hell am I talking about…
There has been this huge blow up about advisors needing to do Facebook or social media marketing! The problem with this is when you start posting or advertising on these social media and someone clicks on your ad. Where do they Go?
Your Landing page? Sure
Your Main Website? God, I hope not!
Now it is true… it depends on where you are at with the funnel when your marketing because yes a landing page will work. But if you are just in the education stage then you basically asking a girl you just met to marry you. Awkward!
Education stage should be directed to your blog…if you write good content (click here for the 10-page checklist on how to write good content) then you can build a tribe.
